Flooring Installation, Repair & Preparation in New Jersey

Flooring work starts with the room, the existing surface and what the finished floor needs to handle. Manova Services works on residential and commercial flooring projects that can include removal, subfloor preparation, repair and installation. The material and installation method are selected according to the space, traffic, moisture conditions and project requirements.

The right flooring should make sense for the way a space is actually used. A busy office has different requirements than a bedroom, basement, kitchen or family living area, and the condition of the existing floor can be just as important as the material selected for the new one.

Manova Services provides residential and commercial flooring services throughout New Jersey, including installation, removal, repair and preparation for a range of flooring materials.

We begin by understanding the property, existing conditions and what the client wants from the finished space before determining the appropriate flooring scope.

Flooring for Homes, Offices & Commercial Properties

Choosing flooring is about more than appearance.

The amount of foot traffic, exposure to moisture, maintenance expectations, existing subfloor and how the room is used can all affect which flooring option makes sense for a project.

A homeowner may prioritize comfort, appearance and easy maintenance. A business may be more concerned about durability, cleaning, downtime and how the flooring performs under daily traffic.

Manova Services works with both residential and commercial clients so the project can be approached according to the property rather than treating every installation the same way.

Our Carpet & Flooring Services

Commercial Flooring

Commercial flooring needs to support the way the business uses the space.

Offices, retail areas, common spaces and other commercial properties may require different materials based on traffic, maintenance, appearance and how much disruption the installation can create.

Manova Services can help evaluate the existing space, removal requirements, preparation and installation scope before the project begins.

Residential Flooring

Flooring has a major impact on the way a home looks, feels and functions every day.

We help homeowners evaluate flooring options for living rooms, bedrooms, kitchens, basements, entryways and other areas based on the room, existing conditions and the priorities of the household.

The goal is to choose a material that fits both the property and the way the space will actually be used.

Carpet Installation

Carpet can provide comfort, sound absorption and a softer surface for bedrooms, offices and other interior spaces.

A good installation starts with accurate measurements and proper preparation of the surface below.

Depending on the project, Manova Services can assist with existing carpet removal, surface preparation, padding and installation of the selected carpet.

Hardwood Flooring

Hardwood flooring can provide a natural appearance and long-term value when the material and installation method are appropriate for the property.

Before installation, factors such as the existing subfloor, room conditions, flooring type and transitions to adjacent rooms should be reviewed.

Manova Services can assist with hardwood flooring projects based on the specific requirements of the home or commercial space.

Laminate Flooring

Laminate can be a practical option for clients looking for the appearance of wood or other finishes with relatively straightforward everyday maintenance.

The right product depends on the room, expected traffic, moisture exposure and installation conditions.

Before choosing laminate, we review where it will be installed and what the client expects from the finished floor.

Vinyl & LVT

Vinyl and luxury vinyl tile can work well in residential and commercial spaces where durability, maintenance and everyday spills are important considerations.

Products vary significantly in construction, appearance and installation requirements, so the selection should be based on the specific room and property conditions rather than assuming every vinyl floor performs the same way.

Tile Flooring

Tile provides a durable surface for areas such as kitchens, bathrooms, entryways and other spaces where easy cleaning and moisture resistance may be important.

Tile projects require attention to the existing surface, layout, transitions and preparation before installation begins.

The project scope should be based on the type of tile, room and condition of the surface underneath.

Floor Repair & Restoration

A damaged or worn floor does not always need to be completely replaced.

Depending on the material and condition, repair or restoration may be a practical option for isolated damage, worn areas or flooring that can still provide useful service.

We evaluate the affected area before recommending whether repair, restoration or replacement makes more sense for the project.

Floor Removal & Disposal

When flooring needs to be replaced, removing the existing material is often the first major step.

Manova Services can remove approved flooring materials as part of a larger flooring project and prepare the work area for the next stage.

The removal scope depends on the existing material, adhesives, condition of the surface and disposal requirements associated with the project.

Subfloor Preparation & Moisture Evaluation

What is underneath the finished flooring can have a direct impact on the installation.

Before installing new flooring, the existing surface may need to be evaluated for uneven areas, movement, visible damage, residue or potential moisture concerns.

Depending on the flooring system and conditions found, preparation or additional testing may be appropriate before installation continues.

Choosing Flooring Based on the Space

There is no single flooring material that is automatically the best choice for every property.

The right decision depends on where the floor is going and what the client expects from it.

Bedrooms & Living Areas

Comfort, appearance and everyday maintenance are often important considerations in bedrooms and living spaces.

Carpet, hardwood, laminate and vinyl may all be options depending on the home and homeowner’s preferences.

Kitchens & Entryways

These areas often experience more frequent cleaning, spills and foot traffic.

The flooring should be selected with those everyday conditions in mind.

Bathrooms & Moisture-Prone Areas

Rooms where water exposure is more likely require flooring materials and installation methods appropriate for those conditions.

The surrounding construction and surface underneath should also be considered before installation.

Basements

Basement flooring should be selected only after considering the condition of the slab or subfloor and any known or suspected moisture concerns.

The appropriate material can vary considerably from one property to another.

Offices & Commercial Spaces

Commercial flooring may need to balance appearance, durability, maintenance and business operations.

The project should also consider how removal and installation will affect employees, customers and access to the workspace.

Our Flooring Process

1. Tell Us About the Project

We begin by learning about the property, rooms involved, existing flooring and what you would like to change.

Photos and approximate measurements can be helpful during the initial discussion.

2. Review the Existing Floor

Depending on the project, the existing flooring and surface underneath may need to be evaluated before the final scope is established.

This helps identify removal requirements, visible damage, uneven areas and other conditions that may affect installation.

3. Discuss Flooring Options

The flooring should be selected according to the room, expected use, desired appearance, maintenance and project requirements.

If you have already purchased or selected a product, provide the manufacturer and product information so the installation requirements can be reviewed.

4. Establish the Scope

Before work begins, the project should identify what is being removed, what preparation is included, what material will be installed and any related services required.

5. Removal & Preparation

When included in the project, existing flooring is removed and the surface is prepared according to the agreed scope.

Unexpected conditions discovered after removal should be discussed before additional work is performed.

6. Flooring Installation

The selected flooring is installed according to the project requirements and the installation method appropriate for the material and space.

7. Transitions & Finishing Details

Doorways, room transitions, edges and other finishing details are addressed according to the scope of the flooring project.

8. Final Review

After installation is complete, the finished area is reviewed and any remaining items included in the agreed scope are identified.

Why Surface Preparation Matters

A new floor can only perform as well as the conditions supporting it allow.

Uneven areas, damaged surfaces, remaining adhesive, movement or moisture concerns can affect installation and should not simply be covered without being evaluated.

Not every property requires the same amount of preparation.

Some projects may need only basic cleaning and preparation after removal. Others may reveal damaged material, uneven surfaces or conditions that require additional work before installation can continue.

That is why the existing floor and substrate should be considered as part of the project rather than treating preparation as an afterthought.

Flooring Removal, Furniture & Project Coordination

One advantage of Manova Services is that flooring work can sometimes overlap with other property or commercial-moving needs.

An occupied office may need furniture moved out of the work area before flooring can be replaced. A residential project may require rooms to be cleared before removal begins. A commercial installation may need to happen in phases so part of the workplace remains usable.

When furniture moving, temporary storage or related services are required, tell us during the initial project discussion.

Coordinating those stages early can help create a clearer sequence for the flooring project.

Residential vs. Commercial Flooring Projects

Residential and commercial flooring projects may use some of the same materials, but the way the work is planned can be very different.

A homeowner may be able to clear a room and avoid the area during installation.

A business may need employees to remain in part of the property, maintain access to entrances or coordinate flooring work around operating hours.

For that reason, the schedule and installation plan should reflect how the property will be used while the project is underway.

When Repair May Make More Sense Than Replacement

Visible damage does not automatically mean an entire floor needs to be removed.

Depending on the flooring material, age, condition and extent of the problem, localized repair or restoration may be worth evaluating before a complete replacement.

Other floors may have widespread damage, unsuitable materials or conditions that make replacement the more practical option.

We review the existing floor before recommending the next step rather than assuming replacement is always necessary.

Project availability depends on the property location, type of flooring, size of the project and services required.

Tell us about the property, rooms involved and flooring you are considering so we can review the initial information and determine the appropriate next step.

The planning and installation scope is adapted to the type of property and how the space is used.

Can you remove our existing flooring?

Existing flooring removal may be included depending on the material and project scope.

Removal requirements should be reviewed before the project begins.

The condition of the surface underneath should be considered before new flooring is installed.

The amount of evaluation and preparation required depends on the flooring system and existing conditions.

The testing method and need for additional evaluation should be determined according to the specific project rather than assumed for every installation.

In some cases, yes.

Whether repair or restoration is practical depends on the flooring material, extent of the damage and overall condition of the existing floor.

Furniture moving may be available depending on the project.

Tell us what furniture is in the affected area when requesting an estimate so any moving or storage requirements can be considered.

Flooring FAQs

What types of flooring does Manova work with?

Manova works with residential and commercial flooring projects that can include hardwood, carpet, laminate, vinyl or LVT, and tile. The right material depends on the room, traffic, moisture conditions, maintenance expectations and project requirements.

Does old flooring always need to be removed before installation?

No. Whether existing flooring can remain depends on the material, stability, height, condition and installation method. In many projects, removal is the better option because it allows the subfloor and transitions to be evaluated before new flooring is installed.

Does Manova handle subfloor preparation?

Yes. Subfloor preparation can include evaluating flatness, damaged areas, moisture-related concerns and other conditions that affect the new floor. The finished flooring should not be used to hide an underlying problem that needs attention first.

Should damaged flooring be repaired or replaced?

It depends on how localized the damage is and what caused it. A focused repair may make sense when the surrounding floor remains serviceable. Widespread damage, unsuitable substrate conditions or a material that cannot be matched may make replacement the better option.

Does Manova provide both residential and commercial flooring services?

Yes. Manova works on both residential and commercial flooring projects. The planning can differ because an occupied home and an active business have different access, staging, traffic and scheduling requirements.

Flooring Material Price Examples (Retail Only)

Updated October 2026. These are examples from current Home Depot and Lowe’s retail listings, not a Manova installation quote. Flooring prices change by brand, construction, wear layer, grade, finish, plank width, promotion and store availability.

Not included: labor, demolition, old-floor removal, disposal, leveling, moisture correction, adhesive, fasteners, transitions, stairs, delivery, tax, furniture moving, baseboards, unexpected subfloor repair or other project-specific work.

Solid hardwood flooring

Current Home Depot examples range from about $3.52–$8.49 per sq. ft. across unfinished and prefinished solid hardwood examples, with many common oak and maple products around the $4–$7 range.

Engineered hardwood flooring

Current retail examples are roughly $4.19–$9.99 per sq. ft. across Lowe’s and Home Depot products. Wear-layer thickness, species, plank width and finish can change the material price substantially.

Luxury vinyl plank (LVP)

Current waterproof click-lock LVP examples from Home Depot and Lowe’s are roughly $2.98–$4.19 per sq. ft. for several common 20–30 MIL products. Lower- or higher-priced products also exist depending on construction and brand.

Laminate flooring

Current laminate examples at Home Depot and Lowe’s run from about $0.99–$2.80 per sq. ft. for common 7–14 mm products. Attached pad, water resistance and durability rating can affect the price.

Porcelain floor tile

Common current Home Depot porcelain examples range from about $1.97–$6.99 per sq. ft., with specialty or large-format tile sometimes costing more. Tile material price does not include mortar, grout, waterproofing or substrate preparation.

Carpet material

Basic residential cut-to-length carpet examples at Home Depot are currently around $1.04–$1.44 per sq. ft. for several entry-level polyester products. Carpet can cost considerably more depending on fiber, density, pattern and pad.

Underlayment

Current underlayment examples for laminate, engineered wood and some vinyl applications work out to roughly $0.21–$0.80 per sq. ft. based on common 100–200 sq. ft. rolls. Not every flooring system requires the same underlayment.

23/32-inch subfloor panels

Current Lowe’s 4 x 8 subfloor examples are around $40.58–$53.98 per sheet for several plywood and OSB products. A 4 x 8 sheet covers 32 sq. ft. before cuts and waste, so replacing subfloor can add meaningful material cost before the finished flooring is installed.

Example: 250 sq. ft. room + 10% waste

Using 275 sq. ft. of material for a 250 sq. ft. room with 10% extra for cuts and waste, the surface material alone could be approximately:

  • Laminate: $272–$770
  • LVP: $820–$1,152
  • Solid hardwood: $968–$2,335
  • Engineered hardwood: $1,152–$2,747
  • Porcelain tile: $542–$1,922

This is a material illustration only. Actual waste can be higher for angled rooms, patterns, damaged boards, stair work or products sold only by full carton.

Why Manova does not price flooring from retail material cost alone: two rooms with the same flooring product can require very different removal, leveling, moisture work, subfloor repair, transitions, trim and installation methods. Manova evaluates the existing surface and project conditions before defining the scope.
